B O O K vs. F I L M / C A S T vs. B O O K
The Book was not as easy to follow as the Film, and there were parts of the film that I do not remember reading in the book. The Tornado, for one, also it sort of jumped right into the main theme of things. And they had a portable Telivision, I do not remember portable T.V.'s
until the late 60's. I do remember we had a Large Cabinet Telivision with a small screen and that was the most modern at the time. We saw The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show when they had first come across " The Pond " and that was in Black and White.
The Cast in the Film was just as I had thought of them as in the Book. My Foster Brother Stephen, was black and also when I lived in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland the populous was 90% Black. The Charactors in the Book were discribed so as you could see them all in thier same color maid uniforms waiting for the bus.
Sometimes when you read a Book and then see the Film you pick-up things that do not do well in writing yet on film you can seem to get it more quickly,
When seeing a Film and then reading the Book the writer can take you more thoroughly into some of the parts that do not do well in the Film, yet they seem more real in the Book.
